New Shoes and Bite Marks - Elder Pack

Hello family and friends!!!!

Well I’m glad that Sunday started out great because we had 6 investigators at church!!  It’s fantastic!!! The mission has been without BOM´s for the last few weeks because the missionary that was in the offices didn’t order any new ones, but we should be getting new ones tomorrow!!  I’m happy for this.

So this week we started off great being very busy and teaching a whole lot.  Also, we went around trying to find service to do…it was great fun.  We really had a great week and we know that this week will be the same.  Please family and friends pray for our investigators that they can receive a testimony.

So I bought new shoes.  I’m also happy about this because well my old running shoes are....on their last strand of life.  I used them today and it felt good.  The only down side was that they were not 100% broken in hahaha so my feet got a little torn up.

The reason I said that I’m glad that my Sunday started off well is because on returning to the house at night, our neighbor’s dog bit my Sunday shoes and left teeth marks in them.  I felt like killing the thing for revenge, but then I thought about it more and decided that wouldn’t send a very good message to our neighbors.  They offered to buy me new ones but the truth is, it doesn’t matter…at some point in the mission this was going to happen and it tells me I need to be more careful.

Something that I forgot to comment on in last week was that Kate has grown up a whole bunch.  Charity sent me photos of the family and wow I didn’t even recognize her!!!!!!

I think that is all for today because I don’t remember much more.

Love you all and hope that you have a great week!!!!!!

Dedication - Elder Pack

Hello People!!!!!

So this week we had a chance to help people and I hope that it has blessed their lives.  The coolest thing was we helped a sister that has recently lost her husband and has suffered much in her life.  If anyone thinks learning a new language is hard be thankful at the least you have a language to talk.  This sister suffered three strokes which affected her memory and speech.  She lost the form of communication and she couldn’t write well.  She couldn’t live her life that way and had a giant desire to relearn everything that she had forgotten.  She told us it was super hard.  When she started reading the Book of Mormon, the first chapter took her 19 days to finish.  What dedication!!!!  She would wake up every morning at 3 and read for a few hours then sleep again.  She would read as much as she could so as to learn faster.  I don’t remember how long it took her to read the entire Book of Mormon, but I imagine it took her a few years.  I have found her story very encouraging to tell you the truth.

This week we had a little bit of success and my companion and I get along great.

Love you all and hope that you all have a great week.

Lots of Dogs in Resistencia - Sister Pack

Hey Family!

So I survived this week in Resistencia!  When I mean survived there is a story with that. So I have realized the older I get, the more I am turning into mom and falling down the stairs... hahaha.  I fell down the stairs the other day when it was raining to be exact.  However the Lord really blessed me, and I am doing better.  Don´t worry, I didn´t break anything. I just need to be a lot more careful on the stairs haha. So I am getting to know Resistencia better, and my area is so huge! And there are sooo many dogs... Seriously, if you don´t want your
kids to like dogs send them down to Argentina AS A MISSIONARY lol.  I actually can´t handle dogs any more. Yesterday was a record in being chased by dogs! We got 4! We have made a point system for the meanness of the dog and the size. Fun no!? lol I love my companion and we are working hard together. At this moment we don´t have anyone progressing exactly, but we are trying really hard to help a few of them. So this is my life! lol Walking and being chased by dogs, but the teaching is the best part!

One thing I really wanted to talk about today is the importance of the scriptures, especially the Book Of Mormon. I remember one talk that was given by Elder Scott on the power of the Book of Mormon.  He said:

“All who will study its message in humility, in faith believing in Jesus Christ, will know of its truthfulness and will find a treasure to lead them to greater happiness, peace, and attainment in this life.  I testify by all that is sacred, this book is true.”

I want to testify also that it is so true.  This book has the power to do all.  It has the power to direct, heal, give joy and change our lives. I have not only seen this in the lives of those around me who take our challenge to heart but in my own life. I am grateful for a Father in heaven who cares enough me to give a book so precious. I am not here to convince you guys that what I say is true but rather to go and read the scriptures and find the truthfulness of this message for yourself!

Interesting Easter Traditions in Mexico

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this week, we had divisions with our district leader and well I don’t know why but I took divisions with his companion. It was fun because we went to work and had some good lessons. Now only to get my area working like that so that I’m not contacting all the time.  I know that me and my new companion will find the key in working this area in the first week or the first 2 weeks so that we have more success.

So my companion’s name is Elder Olvera, and he is from Bera Cruz.  It seems like we are going to have a great companionship.  I think that we will get some things done and really unify this area.

There are a lot of crazy things that have gone on this week!!!!  They had parties almost every night in our area hahahaha. I saw a parade that was the procession of Christ being brought to the tomb or something of the sort.  Also, I found out that on Saturday they burn Judas!!  It’s funny the things that people think of.  Then on Sunday, they had some artist from the states singing in the plaza.  I don’t think that this week will be any different at all because well they have 2 weeks of vacation here in Mexico. (I like it more than ours because more time off now and less  in the summer.  I always got bored during the summer hahaha) While I was watching the parade, I got a little scared because people dress similar to the KKK.  The only thing different was the pointy cap was red.  I didn’t understand why in the heck they were dressed like that but it might be one of those mysteries I never figure out.  Mom asked me what I ate.  Well the truth is nothing special.  I don’t think it’s that big of a deal here to do things like that.  I know that in Pascua, they don’t eat meat from any animal besides fish on those Fridays.  I think that some of the people that we ate with still follow this Catholic tradition.

So my family, there is no place I would be at the moment.  Maybe in 10 months I’ll be ready to come home, but I’m thinking about it and that would most likely be a no.

Hope that everyone has a great week and chooses the right.

Choa Formosa Hola Resistencia!

SO it is official.  I think I have made a record on companions and areas as a sister missionary here in the Resistencia mission. I have had 4 companions and 3 areas, and I am just starting my 4th transfer! It´s absolutely nuts! I am only missing one provenance for my mission which hopefully I will be able to serve in by the end of my mission. Se llama Missiones.  My new companion is Hermana Parker. It´s fun for the people.  There is Hermana Parker and Heremana Pack.  Now we just need a Hermana Packer to make it even more confusing. lol.  We are in Resistencia, the capital, and in the strongest (and oldest) ward in the whole mission.  It´s a pretty tough area but I have already seen miracles; for example, this boy that we invited to church was waiting for us outside his house.  Seriously, this is a miracle.  Usually they fall out the first week and this is after teaching them a few lessons, but we just invited him nothing else.  Insane right! We were late and he said to us he almost walked by himself!  This is an awesome 17 year old! We have our following lesson with him tomorrow.  We are pretty stoked. So about the weather, William can look at Des´s iphone and tell you exactly what the weather is here.  Unfortunately, summer is back! Nice of it right!?  Well, I am ok with it because I have heard it gets cold here in Resistencia during winter.  We will see, or maybe the Lord will move me again. Well this is my life I am in a new area with a new companion ready to work in the Lord’s work!

A highlight on Ty´s email the other week….I completely agree with him.  Families NEED to unite.  I have seen so much bad down here and the only saving grace is familias. I hope that everyone loved conference like I did.  It was THE BEST!  Well love you all and ¨listen to the prophets voice for he shows us the way.¨

Reflections on Conference - Elder Pack

Hello Family!!!

How have we all been???? I HOPE WELL!!!

So the question is, ¿¿¿what did everyone learn from conference???

I hope that everyone was able to learn some new things.  The truth is it really is a time when we can learn to become better.  If we were  listening with our spirits we could have learned many things…I know this for sure.  I learned new things from this conference and loved listening to the talks. (yes that does mean I can understand good enough in Spanish to understand all the messages in conference)  So I liked the message that President Uchtdorf shared on Sunday.  It really was nice, and it is a problem that we can all find in any family.  “Stop doing it" was his phrase, wasn’t it?  Well, it holds truth in many different things now doesn’t it?  But the thing is, he was trying to get people to realize that judging isn’t our job, and if he didn’t make it clear, I think that Pres. Monson did.  He said it at the end of the conference also. It really is a problem in the world with people not forgiving one another and well worst off when it is inside a family.  (I know that I haven’t been the perfect person at this throughout my life, but now I understand a little bit more about it all).  If we want to receive forgiveness of our sins and transgressions, we have to be willing to forgive others.
I hope that everyone has a great week!!!!!

Oh, last week I forgot about something that happened on Saturday.  We were sitting in the park teaching someone and out of nowhere 2 men came up to us and wanted us to answer a question.  They asked their question, which was what do we think about the morality of women (well something of the sort) and I didn’t feel answering the question was a good idea.  So I told them as missionaries we can’t answer questions hahahaha.  Maybe a lie, but I don’t want to say something that can be interpreted wrong. Haha  So this was our experience.  They got a little mad but that’s life.

Adventures and Crazy Moments From This Transfer - Sister Pack

Hi guys –

So here are some of the pictures from my last transfer!  It was literally a blast.  I am really sad that transfers are here and we find out tonight if we are being separated or not. I thought it would be awesome to tell you guys what transfers are like for us here. So we get a call at 9 at night from the Elders telling us if we are being transferred and who is our new companion. THEN.... we pack THE WHOLE NIGHT, go to sleep at 12 or one o´clock, and then wake up at 6am to head to the buses!  We travel for a few hours depending where we are in Argentina then get to our new companions with a big hug and a new pension and a new area!  Then start working!  This process is seriously the coolest process ever.  This is when you feel that this work is directed by the lord. SO this is what is going to happen tonight for us!  Well here are some pictures and you can see the fun we had.

I have absolutely loved Formosa.  It has been amazing.  The people here are amazing, and I am so grateful for my opportunity to serve here! I hope I have another transfer!!
